Chloride adsorbent

Zibo Xiangrun professionally manufacture promoted alumina chloride adsorbent.

Activated alumina as chloride adsorbent include promoted alumina and non-promoted alumina.

Activated Alumina is defined by the formula Al2O3 – xH2O. Activated alumina is a highly porous solid with a surface area of >350 m2/g and total porosity of >0.45 cc/g. around the year 1970, non-promoted aluminas were introduced primarily for gas phase that had a chloride uptake of around 6% wt. As with this alumina the mechanism of adsorption was only physisorption, it often served to catalyze the formation of green oil and organic chlorides.

Zibo Xiangrun and Shandong Bairui successfully developed a promoted Alumina for chloride adsorbent. As mentioned earlier Non-promoted aluminas face the problem of formation of “Green Oil”, as physisoroption promoted the formation of free acidic sites on the adsorbent’s surface. This free HCl catalyzes the formation of green oil which is formed by acid-catalysed polymerization of olefins as shown in Figure.2. This Green Oil if not Controlled can pose serious corrosion problems at the downstream units. Therefore, we recommend the use of promoted activated alumina (where no acidic sites are formed on the adsorbent surface) whenever operators are facing the problem of Green Oil formation.

To summarize, operators who face the issue of organic chloride formation should opt for Promoted Activated Alumina as it does not allow formation of organic chloride in the adsorbent and thus protects the downstream equipment from fouling and corrosion.

XR104 and XR104S defluchlorinating adsorbent could remove the chloride as your situation.
