activated alumina VS. molecular sieve
Molecular sieve and activated alumina ball could together used in Air separation adsorptive dryers, also called desiccant dryers. 4A molecular sieve and activated alumina  improve the dew point in adsorptive dryers to meet customer demand.

Activated alumina and molecular sieve adsorbents are commonly used adsorption dryer. Both adsorbents have strong water adsorption capacity. Activated aluminaowns some physical and chemical properties, so the vast majority of  adsorption dryer choose activated alumina as the good desiccant. Especially in the absence of heat regeneration, activated alumina almost get compressed air pressure dew point -40 ℃. However, at a low moisture environment, the adsorption capacity ofmolecular sieve is better.  So in a very dry compressed air (pressure dew point lower than -60 ℃), molecular sieve will come in handy . But molecular sieve mechanical strength and water resistance are not very good,  so getting activated alumina and molecular sieve together will obtain the best results. Regardless of any occasion, only choosing molecular sieve as desiccant and adsorption is not good decision. 

Application of molecular sieve:
* Cracked gas drying
* Dehydration of refrigerant
* Drying of highly polar compounds, such as methanl and ethanol
*Drying of unsaturated hydrocarbons(E.G. ethylene, propylene, butadene)
* Static,(non-regenerative)dehydration of insulating glass units, whether air filled or gas-filled.
*Drying of natural gas, if COS minization is essential or a minimum co-adsorption of hydrocarbons is required.
