1. What is fast stripping for activated alumina?
Fast stripping for activated alumina is used for production of raw material of activated alumina(ρ-Al2O3) with fast dehydration method in high temperature. the production of α- gibbsite dried, crushed, after refinement, into the rapid dehydration step, stay a few in the 600 ~ 900 ℃ high-speed turbulent hot gas forming a ρ-Al2O3 seconds. Its Process is: α-aluminium powder → dry→smash → flash firing (in a hot air oven) → ρ-Al2O3. In flash firing, the material stays a few seconds in the 600 ~ 900 ℃ high-speed turbulent hot gas, then form a ρ-Al2O3.
2. what is the mechanismactivated alumina by using flashing dehydration method?
Through flash dehydration, α-aluminium powder dehydrate after heating, in the same time, the heat flows quickly from the external, and the internal of particles form vaccum negative pressure, so most of α- aluminium transform into ρ-A12O3 and its conversion rate is 80% or more. ρ-A12O3 is an unstable crystalline. It easily combines with water to release heatand form ahigh intensity boehmite gel. With it, active alumina balls own high crush strength. The ρ-A12O3 after hydration mainly form boehmite and a small amount of amorphous material. X- ray diffraction of activated alumina balls after firing shows that the main crystalline phase is γ-A1203, and also contains small amounts of ρ-A12O3. This is due to a small amount of ρ-A12O3 couldn’t do hydration in fast dehydration materials.
