What dew point could activated alumina reach?

Could activated alumina reach -40℃? -70℃, -80℃?

Our some customers sometimes ask us ” what dew point could your activated alumina reach?”. In here we will introduce our activated alumina and dew point with our activated alumina.

1.The dew point (dew point temperature or dewpoint) is the temperature at which a given concentration of water vapor in air will form dew. More specifically it is a measure of atmospheric moisture. It is the temperature to which air must be cooled at constant pressure and water content to reach saturation.A higher dew point indicates more moisture in the air; a dew point greater than 20 °C (68 °F) is considered uncomfortable and greater than 22 °C (72 °F) is considered to be extremely humid.Frost point is the dew point when temperatures are below freezing.

2. In here, the dew point of activated alumina, we will explain the adsorption for air dryers or air compressor. It require a words” pressure dew point”.

The term “pressure dew point” is encountered when measuring the dew point temperature of gases at pressures higher than atmospheric pressure. It refers to the dew point temperature of a gas under pressure. This is important because changing the pressure of a gas changes the dew point temperature of the gas.

3. Dew point temperatures in compressed air range from ambient down to -80 °C (-112 °F), sometimes lower in special cases. Compressor systems without air drying capability tend to produce compressed air that is saturated at ambient temperature. Systems with refrigerant dryers pass the compressed air through some sort of cooled heat exchanger, causing water to condense out of the air stream. These systems typically produce air with a dew point no lower than 5 °C (41°F). Desiccant drying systems absorb water vapor from the air stream and can produce air with a dew point of -40 °C (-40 °F) and drier if required.

4. The impact factors of dew point

4.1 Desiccant. The quality of Activated alumina, molecular sieve and silica gel decide the dew point

Like Xiangrun’s activated alumina desiccant, our big pore volume, large surface area, long life time, regeneration could guarantee our desiccant good quality.

4.2 Adsorption rate of air dryers

Air dryers manufacturers will design a adsorption rate. Every dryer manufacturer will limit the adsorption rate for activated alumina, molecular sieve and other desiccant.

4.3 Structure parameter of dryers.

The main parameter is the diameter and height for dryers. If you require lower dew point, we suggest you choose higher value for H/D.

4.4 Air condition.

It main show by pressure of humid air and temperature of inlet. These two points will bring negative effect for dew point.

4.5 Adsorption cycle.

The shorter adsorption cycle, the better dew point.

4.6 Residual moisture in regeneration.

The higher residual moisture, the worse dew point.

5. How to improve your dew point of dryers?

Except a good dryer, for activated alumina, molecular sieve and silica gel, we should choose high quality and change new one. Please don’t overuse your desiccant.
